Nato And The Warsaw Pact
NATO was a North Atlantic Treaty Organization which was created on April 4, 1949.This organization included Europe and North America.NATO was a defence alliance , If any of them would be attacked they would come to each others aid. NATO made new programs, in 1979.The Warsaw Pact was formed by the communist countries in Central and Eastern Europe. It was signed in Warsaw, Poland on May 14,1955. The reason for its formation was the Soviets response to Western Germany for joining NATO. Among those who joined the pact apart from the Soviet Union were Poland,East Germany, Hungary, and Romania.Same as NATO these countries formed a mutual defense alliance. They had a stronger ground force than that of NATO.
Film Lesson "Schindler's List"
this film had alot in it even thoe the scenes were very discusting they were also very sad and it was great way to learn about the holacoust. The scenes that were very powerful to me were the children who were hiding from the Nazis in the concentration camps. The children were being put into trucks, some had escaped and were being chased by the soldiers. One boy desperately began to look for a place to hide and he ended up hiding in one of the bathrooms. Another scene was when the Jewish people were shoveling all the snow and the Nazis took out an old man from the line. He was killed in front of everybody, and because of his age he couldn't work as fast as the others. The images that will stay with me forever are the piles of dead bodies the Nazis were burning to hide the evidence. Hundreds of Jews were carrying the dead ones in wheelbarrows while the Nazis watched with towels on their faces. One Nazi soldier becomes deranged and begins to shoot the dead bodies. Schindler is horrified but does not stop the Nazi from shooting. One scene that I thought showed that Schindler cared for his workers was when he let them free and dared the Nazi guards to take them away. One by one the guards left, and Schindler asked the Jews for a moment of silence for those who had perished.
Film Lesson Night and Fog
"Night and Fog" is a documentry film based on Nazi concentration camps. I felt that the film was powerful because it was real. The images were very horrifying and i felt nauseous looking at them. The movie showed how badly the jews had in while being in the labor camps. One bad thing about the film was that all the dead jews that the germans killed at the camps were all burned to ashes.this documentary showed the suffering of the Jews. When they were led by the Nazis to the gas chambers it showed how desperate the Jews were to live. They tried to claw their way and left marks on the walls and ceilings. All the dead bodies were the same, each face had fear and their eyes had no hope in them. Some of the prisoners committed suicide by throwing themselves against the electric gates. The Nazis kept diligent records on their prisoners, and then they tried to deny what they did in the Nuremberg trials. They even showed the Allies reaction when they found the concentration camps and what they had to do.

The Treaty of Versailles(Ended W W I)
Treaty of Versailles affected Germany at the end of world war one because there were dealt with in separate treaties. Germany was forced to borrow some money from America, in order to pay its war debt to England and France. This was very hard for them. It went to a point, which America went threw a depression and was unable to let Germany borrow any more money. Germany didn't have much choice.Germany had been forced to pay all compensation to the allies and accept full responsibility for the war. All of the nation's overseas colonies were taken away and shared between the allies, including that she also lost ten percent of its land. A bulky 12.5% of the German population was living outside of Germany.

Mustafa Kemal(Ataturk) And The Modernization Of Turkey.
The Mustafa Kemal also known as Atatuek which stands for "the father of the turks". He was givin this name because found the turkish republic and its first president. Mustafa Kemal modernized Turkey and made it more secular. Secular means not specifically relating to religion or to a religious body. He sought to westernize Turkey in many ways. He imposed a wide range of reforms that included emancipation of women, Latin alphabet, freedom of religion, education of the masses and even rules on the type of dress that was acceptable. Example: he wanted turkish people to abolish the fez.The fez was the hat that the turkish people wore. He wanted them to dress like the europeans.
Mustafa Kemal wanted a modern Turkey defined from six principals he used. They were nationalism, Republicanism, Populism, Statism, Secularism, and Revolutionism. He was a President for 15 years, until his death in 1938. The world honors his memory as a foremost peacemaker who up held the principles of humanism and the vision of a united humanity.

Film Lesson-"Gandhi"
Ghandi was an influential person in India who faught for their independence. Some way that Gandhi influenced people not to fight was by going on a hunger strike, it was really affected because the people of India stop fighting. Gandhi was also responsible for the salt march. The salt march was to prevent the British from taxing them. Salt was very valuable back in those days so Great Britain would tax on all the salt, gaining more profit. Gandhi led thousands of people to walk around 200 miles, just to get themselves free salt from their own land, the sea. He went threw this whole thing with out using no violance at all.. the british beat the indians down but the indians would not attack them. At the end the Indians got their Independence and they got respected.
EXTRA-CREDIT.
I personally think that he won independence because he believed in peace and he lived by it. I dont think that this was all about him. he really wanted independence for India and even thoe he wanted one whole big country mixed with muslim and hinduism yet he was happy for what he had accomplish. I also think that not only Gandhi did everything the people helped him out they both needed each other they needed his ideas and ganhi needed them to accomplish his ideas.
